In theory, if the flame goes out for any reason the gas cuts off so you don’t end up bright red and dead on the kitchen floor. With old stoves (like mine) this valve has the oven equivalent of memory loss. So it turns the gas off when you want it on. Which is why it is necessary to hold the knob in while you hold a lit match to the gas, trying to bypass the wonky cut off valve.

  33. Nathan, I agree. You've analyzed the difference so well. There are books so poorly written that they interrupt the flow of the story making it impossible to enter that world; I skim to finish the story. There are other books where the prose is breathtaking but the story or characters are so repugnant to me that I either don't finish the book or am left with a bad taste.

  131. I’ve had many instances of Deja Vu however when it occurs for me, it comes across as vividly something I’ve dreamt about happening. I’ve even remembered some of my dreams in waking moments and later had a Deja Vu experience on it so its really strange to me and makes me wonder if our lives are already laid out and pre-destined as the Bible tells us our lives are already woven by the hand of God. Either way its interesting.
